Capturing Resilience for The Alfred Foundation's Critical Care Appeal
In the world of healthcare photography, there are moments that truly remind you of the power of the human spirit. Our recent shoot for The Alfred Foundation's Critical Care Appeal was one such moment.
Strength in Recovery
The Alfred Foundation approached us with a crucial mission: create visual content for their Critical Care Appeal that would inspire donations while honouring the dignity of patients whose lives have been saved by The Alfred Hospital. It was a delicate balance of showcasing strength and vulnerability.

Photoshoot Process: We set up in the Paula Fox Melanoma Centre, using the iconic arch in the foyer as a backdrop. This architectural feature, I realised, would become a powerful visual motif for future shoots.
Our star was Karen, a patient whose comfort in front of the camera was truly remarkable. We captured her in three different scenarios: alone, with her clinical team, and with her supportive partner. Each setup was designed to tell a different aspect of her journey.

We decided to shoot Karen from a low angle. This perspective literally and figuratively elevated her, emphasising her power and resilience in the face of adversity.

While the full impact of the campaign is yet to be published, we know that these images will be featured prominently at Southern Cross Station, potentially reaching thousands of commuters daily. The Fundraising Specialist from The Alfred Foundation expressed complete trust in our process, giving us creative freedom that resulted in truly authentic shots.
This project reaffirmed why healthcare photography is so crucial. It's not just about taking pictures; it's about telling stories of hope, resilience, and the incredible impact of medical care. At MMP Studio, we're proud to play a part in supporting The Alfred Foundation's mission to save lives and improve community health.
