The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab)

The Herald Sun - 27th October, 2022

An article in today’s Herald Sun newspaper features my image of Cardiologist Tony Walton, holding a new invention that will allow surgeons at the Alfred Hospital to replace a leaky mitral valve in a new keyhole procedure, without open heart surgery.

It consists of inserting a tube about the size of the small finger through a large artery near the hip to permanently leave behind a ring and and the new valve that docks inside it.
