Monash School of Translational Medicine Case Study: Capturing Innovation for Honours Booklet

Honours booklet cover

MMP Studio partnered with Monash School of Translational Medicine (STM) to create compelling visuals for their Honours Booklet, showcasing its innovative research and talented students.

Precision in Every Drop: Lab flasks containing solutions, showcasing the meticulous nature of translational research at Monash STM.

Challenge: STM needed new photos for their Honours Booklet and posters while expanding their stock image database with general shots capturing the essence of their cutting-edge research environment.

Mentorship in Action: A Monash supervisor guides an honours student through a pipetting technique, exemplifying the hands-on learning experience at the School of Translational Medicine.

Solution: We chose to conduct the photoshoot in a familiar diabetes lab, leveraging natural light and strategic setups to capture diverse scenes and participants.

Process: Working closely with the lab manager and STM's communications team, we orchestrated a series of scenarios featuring supervisors and honours students. We ensured diversity in gender, age, and ethnicity throughout the shoot. Following the lab session, we moved to a prime location in the Alfred Centre for staff headshots, maximising natural light supplemented by our portable lighting kit.

Outcome: The photoshoot yielded 50 high-quality lab photos across 5 different scenes, along with 24 professional headshots. Early mock-ups of the Honours Booklet showcase the photos beautifully, promising an engaging and visually appealing final product.

Client Testimonial: "The photos have come up beautifully! I can't believe the contrast between Celine’s 2018 headshots and the one you took for us!!!”  - Communications Manager, School of Translational Medicine, Monash University

Conclusion: This project not only met STM's immediate needs for their Honours Booklet but also provided a wealth of stock images to refresh their visual database.
